Salud de Familia

A program to help families with children from prenatal to age five learn how to access resources for themselves and their children so that they may become healthy and self-sufficient. Funding is made possible by a partnership with First 5 San Bernardino.

Por La Vida

A health promotion program for women interested in learning how to prevent cardiovascular disease through healthy lifestyles and increase their chances of surviving breast and/or cervical cancer through early detection and treatment. Volunteers learn to become health promoters so they can pass on their knowledge to other women in their community. Trainings run for 16 weeks and are held at Adelanto school sites. This program is made possible through a grant from The California Wellness Foundation.

Adelanto Youth Connection (AYC)

Youth receive job readiness and retention skills training, life skills training, internship development and placement, and case management. Youth Connection activities include eight one-hour workshops delivered twice weekly. This group meets Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Funding is provided by a Community Development Block Grant from the County of San Bernardino, and from private donations.

Adelanto Youth Leadership (AYL)

Brings youth of diverse ages, cultural backgrounds, and experiences together with the common goal of making positive changes in their community. The group organizes community clean-up activities, organizes community events, attends youth conferences, and works to make a difference in Adelanto. AYL meets every Wednesday at the Tool Box Center, from 4-5 p.m. This program is supported by a grant from The Community Foundation Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, through the Willmas Trust.

Bilingual Class

An ongoing program that gives residents the opportunity to learn English for the Spanish speaking and the English speaking can learn Spanish at the same time. Classes are held Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 10-12 p.m.

Computer Training

A 12 session program that provides residents a hands-on opportunity to learn the basic computer skills necessary to navigate Microsoft Windows software applications like Word, Excel, Publisher, power point, and offers an introduction to internet browsing. Classes are open to youth and adults and are in Spanish and English. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-12 p.m. This program is made possible through a generous grant from the California Consumer Protection Foundation.

Community Service

Youth and adults can work with Tool Box staff to arrange community service projects at the Tool Box center. It is open to those interested in volunteering or those required to complete service hours for school, court, etc. Community service days for youth are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednessdays.

Homework Club

Youth who come to the Tool Box center meet after school and help each other on school assignments or projects. Elementary school students are helped by high school youth with homework. This group gathers Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Food & Clothing Distribution

Local residents initiated and carry out a program for residents needing clothing and for those wanting to donate items. The food is distributed every Friday, from 12-3 p.m to individuals and families in need.

GAIN

Adults who participate in the GAIN program help out during the day at the Tool Box with filing, creating activities, doing clerical work and helping children with their homework.

Espacio Para La Mujer

A group of community women get together and share their talents by working on different projects such as making piñatas, rosaries, basket decorations, and many more fun activities. If you have a skill and you would like to share it, come and join!

Extended Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)

Community health promoters trained in this federal nutrition program conduct workshops to teach residents how to improve the nutrition quality of their diet, increase safe food handling practices and stretch their food dollars.

Cooking Class

An ongoing class that teaches residents how to cook healthy everyday meals. This class meets every Thursday from 10-12 p.m.
